Under the Free Trade Agreements with the United States, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Peru, The European Union and South Korea there are special programs which allow citizens and permanent residents of those countries to obtain temporary work permits without permission from Human Resources. There are also people who can work without a work permit.

Once a foreign student graduates he/she can apply for and obtain a work permit from one to three years depending on the length of their studies in Canada. With studies, work experience, they will increase their points in the Express Entry.

Workers, students and visitors are Temporary Residents, Including visiting family and friends. The Canadian Temporary Resident Visas are a category of visas for people who want to stay in Canada for a short period of time, usually 6 months or less. They are for various purposes of staying such as tourism, business, family visits.
The Parent and Grandparent Super Visa (Super Visa) is a temporary resident permit that allows parents and grandparents to stay for up to 2 years in Canada per visit. It is valid for up to 10 years.
A regular multiple-entry visa is also valid for up to 10 years, but only allows stays of up to 6 months per visit.
